Updated Costumes and Props

Our video will have two performers, both of them will have specific and planned clothing.

The first performer I will talk about is Kendall, she wears different clothing based on scene, the first scene I will talk about is the train station scene.

She will wear denim shorts and tights underneath to create a casual modern look that still looks quite serious and coherent.

She will wear a black coat during the train station scene which symbolises the cold weather. It is also reflective of her mood, which is dark as she is upset by the situation.

For this scene as well as the relationship scene she will wear converse shoes as they bring a casual yet tidy feel to her appearance.

For the studio scenes Kendall will wear black boots in order to create a more professional and confident impression.

For our artists make up, we will use winged eyeliner and red lipstick to compliment the image we are creating, we do not want to go overboard with the make up so our artist still looks relatively natural and her aesthetic does not look overly forced.

The other performer, James, also has a planned yet simple and fitting aesthetic

The theme of his clothing will be dark wherever possible, this includes jeans, shirt, hoodie, and trainers.

Some of the props we plan on using include an iPhone, an umbrella, microphone and a guitar.

We will use a guitar in the studio scene, because the song has quite a bit of guitar in it and it feels appropriate.
The performer can be seen looking through old photos on her iPhone, thinking back on the past. This is also seen when she is alone on the train. It is a fitting object to use because it creates a realistic scene.
A microphone can be seen in the shots filmed within the studio. This is gives the studio shots a more professional feel.

Contacting the Artist

After only a few hours the artist replied to us and gave us full permission to use her song!
Below is a screenshot showing her consent! Now we have conformation we can now focus on the planning for our music video.

Updated Artist Profile

Name: Melanie Ungar

Age: 21 years old

Genre: Country Pop

No. of members: 1

Target audience: the target audience for this artist would be early teens to early adults.

Home town ; Toronto, Canada

Melanie is a 21 year old unsigned singer song writer from Canada who has always had a passion for music. She was a top 3 finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a Semi-finalist in Unsigned Only & ISC.  and a Reverbnation featured artist.

Updated Location Sheet

The first location that the group planned to use was Kings Cross train station. After a bad break up, our character is found here, the fact that the video starts at a train station could be implying that she is traveling towards something better. Filming at a train station as busy as Kings Cross may be problematic though, so we figured we may have to use a less popular station like Becontree instead.

The second location that the group had in mind was the dance studio at Eastbrook, this is a good location to film the amplified part of the music video, it is an open space which means that the shots will not look messy and will be easy to edit together, giving the video a more professional feel. The idea with this location is just to have the artist sing into the microphone, nothing overly fancy, just shots that look nice and crisp.

The third location that will be used is Central Park. The idea behind this scene is to show the artist and her ex-boyfriend in a happy light with the use of flashbacks. This is a good location for a scene like this as it is where a couple might go just to spend time with each other. These flashbacks will help convey the notion that the relationship started off as a good one.

Updated Treatment Sheet

Mise-en-scene:Kamie Rothon

Title: One Day - Kendall Mackie

Synopsis:
Our chosen song is about a relationship that ended badly so we decided to have a narrative based music video. We felt that this was the best option as the lyrics are easy to transform into a story effectively. We decided specifically on a non linear narrative; the first shots are going to be after the break up and flashbacks are going to be used to show the relationship from the beginning to the end. As well as using flashbacks we're going to use an amplified studio like setting thats repeated during the chorus. These shots will just focus on the artist singing into a microphone. At the start of the video the artist is going to be seen getting onto a train. We decided this was an effective idea as it symbolises that she is going on a journey both physically and emotionally. At the start of the journey she is upset about the break up and throughout the shots she is seen looking through photographs of them together, but by the end of the video before she gets off the train she is seen deleting them photos. This will suggest that by the end of the video she has stopped holding on to the past.

Key Genre Conventions:
The song we have chosen is of the pop/country genre as it is catchy and upbeat and contains lyrics about love and relationships. As the song we have chosen is of the pop genre our video will contain many close ups of the artist. As our song is also of the country genre we will also add in some typical conventions of country videos such as an acoustic guitar and plaid clothing. Our video will also establish a trade mark for our artist; her bright red hair. We will also make sure that our artist is dressed in stylish fashionable clothing as this is another key genre convention of a pop video.

Lyrics

Lyrics!

Youre taking me for granted,
but you're the first thing on my mind.
Im tired of your excuses,
but i could never tell you a lie.
Try a little harder, even half as hard as i try
to win you over.

Bring me closer to you.
Show me what you want me to do.

One day you will see
you'll never find a girl like me.
One day you will see
we were always meant to be.
One day you will see
what it feels like to be me.

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you
One day you will see.

You never show your emotions,
but i always let you in.
You're afraid of commitment.
I'm sick of being on and off again.
You gotta make your mind up.
Tell me what its gonna take,
to win you over.

Bring me closer to you.
Show me what you want me to do.

One day you will see
you'll never find a girl like me.
One day you will see
we were always meant to be.
One day you will see
what it feels like to be me.

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you
One day you will see.

Ive waited here for so long.
For you to show your face or atleast call.
Cant you see that we belong?
Why cant we be together?

One day you will see
you'll never find a girl like me.

One day you will see
you'll never find a girl like me.
One day you will see
we were always meant to be.
One day you will see
what it feels like to be me.

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you.

One day you will see
you'll never find a girl like me.
One day you will see
we were always meant to be.
One day you will see
what it feels like to be me.

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you

When i miss you,
when i kiss you,
when i'm with you

One day you will see.

A Change in Plans - Group Meeting 1.

The initial plan for our music video was to have a friend of ours as the star while we took care of the filming and editing. This plan fell through at the last minute as that person was no longer able to participate, given how we no longer have the time to plan a new project, we have decided to collaborate with one of the other groups in our class. I will soon be posting new planning documents, the artist profile, and all the other relevant information to match this new project.

The people we are collaborating with for our project now are Ellese Lee and Kamie Rothon.
